Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies

Ohio University's Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS) degree, offered on all Ohio University regional campuses and through OHIO Online, is designed for people who have completed 60 credits or earned an associate degree. BTAS degree seeking students are those who want to further their education and advance their careers.

The BTAS program focuses on workplace effectiveness and seeks to attract a wider range of associate degree graduates seeking advancement in formal and informal leadership roles through added flexibility in degree requirements. The program provides you with knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to get ahead in your chosen career and integrates technical and professional skills.

The BTAS utilizes 60 semester hours of college credit or an earned associate's degree.

Flexible Online Format

Admission Requirements

  • Associate in Applied Business (A.A.B.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) or 60 hours of degree credit
  • Cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher

Technical and Applied Studies Certificate

If you're interested in supplementing your current major or gain additional skills to support your career, OHIO also offers a Technical and Applied Studies Certificate (CTX81U). The Technical and Applied Studies (TAS) certificate can complement many traditional undergraduate degree programs in the fields of business (e.g., data analytics), health fields, technology (e.g, computer technology, engineering technology) and public service (e.g., law enforcement, or criminal justice).
